In 1964, his close friend Anthony Baccaro, who worked with Dante as a presser at Modern Coat Shop, joined him as a partner. Their first showroom was in Springfield, PA on the corner of Bishop Avenue & Baltimore Pike. In 1973, they purchased the property at 420 & Baltimore Pike where we are still located today.
Anthony ran the day-to-day operations at the store where a typical work week would be 80 to 90 hours while Dante ran the warehouse facility in Southwest Philadelphia. I started working with my father (Anthony & Uncle Dante) at the age of 13. I would spend the summer months at the warehouse with my uncle. This is where I learned the basics of the floor covering industry (cutting the jobs for the installers, binding, receiving merchandise and of course sweeping the floors).
When I started college, I worked nights with my father at his store and this is where the second part of my training started. My father was the best salesman I ever saw and was content in making his customers happy. He was soft spoken and listened to his customers but most importantly he always delivered on what he promised.
In 1984, Dante retired and my father and I became partners which lasted for twenty-four years. Since then we moved our warehouse operation to Glenolden, PA which is much closer to our showroom. I am very grateful for the opportunity I received and still run the business on the old fashion values it was founded on. I would like to thank all the loyal customers who patronized Pandolfi House of Carpets throughout the years.
